# How to join or contact us

The Civics Committee and its working groups are open spaces. Whether you want to observe, contribute, or stand for election, there is a way in.

***

## Observe

**Committee meetings are open.** We meet weekly, alternating between open discussion sessions and internal decision-making sessions. Anyone can attend and listen.

Meeting times and joining links are published in the **Intersect Events Calendar**. Minutes for every meeting since October 2023 are published here, 2026 minutes.

**Working group meetings are also open.** See Working groups for what is currently running.

***

## Join the conversation

Join the **Intersect Discord** for the committee channel and the active working group channels. If you can't find a channel, contact the Secretary and we'll point you at it.

We also host **Civics X Spaces**: announced on [@intersectCIVICS](https://x.com/intersectCIVICS) and in the [Intersect calendar](https://luma.com/intersect).

***

## Join a working group

Working groups are open to contributors from the community. You do not need to be a committee member or an Intersect member to participate.

Contact the Civics Secretary:

## Stand for the committee

Committee elections are held **once a year, each April**. Members serve two-year terms.

* Elections run through the Membership Area on the [Intersect website](https://intersectmbo.org/)
* You must be a Individual Intersect member in good standing to stand as an elected member, and to vote
* Applications typically open a few weeks before the election - stay up to date on our social channels and member updates

The committee seats up to ten voting members alongside a Chair, Vice Chair and Secretary.

## Stand for the Constitutional Committee

Constitutional Committee elections are a separate process, which the Civics Committee facilitates. Candidacy is open beyond Intersect membership.

See Constitutional Committee elections for how the process works, what is required of candidates, and when the next cycle opens. The full requirements are in the [Guidelines for Participation](https://docs.intersectmbo.org/intersect-knowledge-base/cardano-facilitation-services/cardano-governance/2026-constitutional-committee-elections/guidelines-for-participation).

> **Note for prospective candidates:** cold credential generation and verification is a **mandatory part of registration**. Generate your keys in an offline environment, > candidates who have generated keys online have had to regenerate them before being allowed onto the ballot.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://civicscommittee.docs.intersectmbo.org/about/how-to-join-or-contact-us.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
